Remote Birth Access
Convenient and timely access to certified abstracts of birth certificates for identification purposes is a service local registrars can provide to persons born in Texas.
By linking the Local Registrar's office (County Clerk) to the Texas Department of State Health Services/Vital Statistics Unit's birth database, native-born Texans can get a birth certificate in Kendall County, instead of having to travel to the state vital statistics office in Austin or vital records office in the county where they were born.
Remote Birth Access prints an "abstract of birth facts" (short form) at the Local Registrar's office. This abstract of birth facts is a legal certificate and is used by native Texans as their basic identity document.
All certificates are issued on banknote security paper approved by the State Registrar. Each certificate includes the following birth information: Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Place of Birth, Father's Name, Mother's Name, and Date Filed, along with the State File Number and Certification from your Local Registrar. The cost per certificate is $23 payable in cash, check, credit, or debit card.
All persons requesting a birth certificate must fill out an Application for a Vital Statistics Record and provide valid identification.
