In the fall of 2008, Kendall County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office became a passport acceptance facility.

As of December 2025, our office has processed over 50,000 passport applications.

Passport Acceptance Hours

Our office processes passport applications on a walk-in basis only. 

We are open Monday through Friday, excluding Federal and County Holidays from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Requirements

  • You must submit a certified long-form birth certificate (not hospital certificate or photocopy) or naturalization certificate; 1 passport photo (Walmart, Walgreens, UPS store) if you have a valid passport, you may submit it instead of a birth certificate if you are 18 or older. Original birth certificates, naturalization certificates, and passports will be submitted with the application and returned to the passport applicant.
  • You must bring a valid picture I.D. (if you are presenting an out-of-state I.D. You must present an additional form of I.D.)
  • Applications for children under the age of 16: both parents must be present and have valid photo I.D. (child must be present as well). If 1 parent is not available for signature a court order or completed/notarized form ds-3053 must be submitted along with a copy of the front and back of the non-appearing parent's driver's license or passport. Children under the age of 16 renewing passports must submit their expired or expiring passport and birth certificate
  • Applications for 16 and 17-year-olds: 16 and 17-year-olds are considered adults by the passport agency; however, they must have written permission from a parent as well as a copy of that parent's driver's license/ID or must be accompanied by a parent. They must be able to present a valid picture id (i.e. driver's license or military ID) along with an original or certified copy of their birth certificate or naturalization certificate.

Fees

  • Passport book (adult $130) (child $100)
  • Passport card (adult $30) (child $15)
    • Passport cards can only be used to enter the United States from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or seaports of entry
  • The execution fee is $35 per application
  • For expedited service add $60 to the passport fee

You can also opt to have the Department of State overnight your passport to you when they are finished processing your application by adding an overnight fee. Please call our office or check with the travel.state.gov website for the current overnight postage fee

How to Pay

  • Checks/money orders for passport book/card fees must be payable to the U.S. Dept. of State
  • No temporary checks, cash, or cards will be accepted for passport application fees.
  • Execution fees can be paid by check, money order, cash, or charge (an additional fee will be added for all cards used). Make checks/money orders payable to: James Hudson, TAC     

Applications

Applications and forms are available at no charge to you from processing locations and the U.S. Department of State's website.

All forms and applications must be error-free and completed in black ink. Completed forms printed online must be single-sided and a full 8.5 by 11-inch paper size. For more information, you can check out the U.S. Department of State's website.
