Judge Lux's family came to Kendall County in the late 1880's and he resides on his family's ranch in Kendalia.

Judge Lux graduated from Blanco High School and then attended Southwest Texas State University (currently Texas State) graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  While attending college, he worked road construction, building roads in the developing community of Fair Oaks Ranch and the Crossing Subdivision among others.

After graduation, he was employed by Triad Systems Corp., a computer systems company, for 16 years as a Marketing Representative and a Territory Sales Manager.  His territory included New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi.  During his career at Triad he was responsible for the installation of computer systems, education of employees, sales, and management of a sales team.  Triad Systems was an innovative company in the automotive and hardware industry, developing the first cataloging system for auto parts stores and dealers.

Judge Lux served the residents of Kendall County as the Commissioner of Precinct 3 from January 1997 until his appointment to County Judge in July of 2013, filling the position left vacant following the resignation of the late Judge Gaylan Schroeder.  Lux was elected to his current term in 2014. From 2005 to 2013, he also served the Court as Judge Pro-Tem.

With the creation of the 451st District Court in 2017, Judge Lux took on the duties of Probate Judge.  As Probate Judge he not only presides over the probate of wills, he also is responsible for issuing emergency protection orders, the commitment of the mentally ill and the guardianship of incapacitated adults and minors.  Lux trained extensively for over a year with the Texas College of Probate Judges and Texas Association of Counties while shadowing other Judges to educate himself to serve over these matters.

Judge Lux feels strongly about the importance of community involvement and service to others.  He participates in fundraisers for the local volunteer fire departments,  Kendall County Women’s Shelter, the Rainbow Senior Center, the Hill Country Pregnancy Center, Hill Country Mission for Health and the Kendall County Wild Game Dinner among others.  He is a Friend of the Cibolo Nature Center, active in the local Republican Club and the Kendall County Farm Bureau.  He supports Kendall County youth at the Junior Livestock Show and Auction and the Kendall County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund each year.

He serves on the Board of Directors and Area Judges of the Alamo Area Council of Governments, as an Ex-officio Member of the Executive Board of the Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation and Advisory Director for the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. He was also appointed by the Governor and serves on the Regional Review Committee of the Alamo Area Council of Governments.  Lux serves as Recycling Coordinator for the Kendall County Recycling Center and is the Court’s representative on the Kendall County Finance Committee.

Judge Lux enjoys serving Kendall County and understands the importance of his decisions to the residents of his community.  “I appreciate the opportunity that the citizens have given me to preserve the integrity of our county and our quality of life, for today, tomorrow and for the future.”
