Primary Duties
The Kendall County Juvenile Probation Department's primary duty is to provide assistance to the young offenders of the county. They range from the age of 10 to 17 years. These referrals come from law enforcement, schools, parents, and other agencies. We work closely with the school, parents, police, prosecuting attorney, and State agencies that deal with this age group. We are also available to assist the community and civic organizations.
The Process
The process begins with law enforcement agencies and/or parents. After the case has been referred to this office, we establish jurisdiction and if there is probable cause to proceed with intake. This is when we begin the process of deciding the best plan for the juvenile. Each case is considered individually.
Probation Supervision
We provide supervision for all the juveniles that are place on probation. While on probation, they have certain conditions that they must follow. They are ordered to perform community service, pay financial restitution, and attend anger management and substance abuse education classes. We also monitor their school behavior and family dynamics.
